OpenAI introduced a new model, GPT-6.1 Sol, along with a set of ChatGPT collaboration features at DevDay 2026 on September 29. Spanning ChatGPT, Codex and the models themselves, the announcements numbered more than 20 in total. OpenAI said ChatGPT now has 1.2 billion weekly users.

What’s new in GPT-6.1 Sol

GPT-6.1 Sol is an upgrade to the existing GPT-6 Sol. OpenAI highlighted its ability to handle coding tasks on its own, operate a computer directly, and take on professional work. It is available through the developer API for building into products, as well as on the Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise and Edu plans. Standard input and output pricing, the company said, is one-fifth that of GPT-6 Astra.

OpenAI also released Ultrafast, which speeds up response generation. According to the company, it makes generating answers in Codex up to eight times faster, producing up to 300 tokens (the small chunks of text models work with) per second. Through the developer API, the speedup is up to six times. GPT-6 Astra Ultrafast is available via the developer API now, and in ChatGPT Work and Codex it comes with the Pro 500 and Enterprise plans. An Ultrafast version of GPT-6.1 Sol will arrive later.

From code review to shared documents

Codex gained the ability to run tasks in the cloud and reuse development environments. It is available on Plus, Pro, Business, Healthcare, Education and Enterprise. The code review feature in the ChatGPT desktop app has been opened to all plans. It summarizes how code has changed, lets you inspect the differences, and lets you ask Codex about them directly. Automatic reviews in the cloud are supported as well.

OpenAI also showed Dots, an AI that keeps working on tasks on a user’s behalf. It is available to Pro and Business Premium users in supported regions. On Enterprise, Edu and Healthcare, administrators must switch the feature on to access the preview; it is off by default.

Working with documents inside ChatGPT got easier, too. Space and Pages are available on Pro, Business and Enterprise. Space works in the desktop app and on the web, while mobile supports finding, reading and sharing pages. Writing and editing on mobile will be added later. A slides feature that lets multiple people edit and comment together arrives on the same plans within a few weeks. Finished slides can be exported to PowerPoint and Google Slides formats.

Who gets what, and on which plan

On Business and Enterprise, teams can work together on documents, plugins and spreadsheets, and hand repetitive tasks off to the AI. The @ChatGPT mention in Slack and Microsoft Teams is included on both plans as well. Teammates can add the context a conversation needs and refine the output even without their own ChatGPT seats.

The Meetings plugin, which organizes what was said in a meeting, is now in preview for Pro and Business users in the macOS ChatGPT desktop app. It saves meeting notes, custom summaries and action items to a Space. Once the notes are generated, the recording is deleted and cannot be played back. Enterprise support is coming later.

A new plan, Pro 500, comes with a usage limit 25 times that of Plus, plus access to Ultrafast. Taken together, the announcements widen what ChatGPT can handle from writing answers to reviewing code, summarizing meetings and co-editing documents. Still, the available plans and regions differ from feature to feature, so for users in Korea the deciding factors will likely be local availability, Korean language support and what a subscription actually costs.
